Working House Fire in Newton

Just before 3pm this afternoon I responded to a house fire on Brookline Street in Newton. The fire started in the kitchen and extended to the attic area but was quickly knocked down. I shot several photos of the Firefighters and apparatus but got the above photo just as I was about to leave. Proof that the sympathy is not limited to humans.

Relying on Sources

I responded to a reported police involved shooting in West Newton earlier tonight after receiving the call in my pager. The ride took about 20 minutes and I expected to see a lot of activity but what I found was a few cruisers parked on a side street and some news teams. Come to find out that the incident was only a person that had run from the police after a routine car stop. No pursuit, no shooting and no drama. However, at the time I was standing on a dark street with nothing going on, a real shooting occured in Roslindale which would have been about a 7 minute response for me. Lesson learned is rely on verified information before going on a wild goose chase. Hats off to fellow photographer Mike Flynn for getting the Rozzie photos.

Getting In Gear

The past few months I have pretty much stuck to my local area for chasing news events. Cold, snow and other issues were to blame but I decided I need to get my butt in gear and do more. Hopefully I will have at least one post a day but we will see!
