Quick Knockdown in Brookline

Brookline Firefighters were at their usual best by quickly controlling a fire on the 3rd floor of a 3 decker at 229 High Street just after 11am this morning. Fire Alarm struck box 126 for a report of a fire in the building and Engine 1 under the command of Captain Michael Sullivan reported smoke showing just minutes after receiving the call. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the room of origin and all occupants were able to safely escape the structure. The cause in under investigation but it does not appear suspicious at this time.

Brookline Garbage Truck Accident

Getting to be a busy day for my first day back chasing. Just after 11:30am I responded to a reported truck tipped over and resting on cars at the rear of 1223 Beacon Street. A Brookline garbage truck slid off a narrow roadway and came to rest on cars parked in the lot. The operator of the truck was taken to the hospital with back pain.

The operator was briefly trapped due to the vehicle being on it's side. A small fire also broke out in the engine. The operator was not seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.

Garage Fire in Needham

A bit past 9pm last night I responded to a garage fire on Clyde Street in Needham. The pager reported an auto body shop fully involved which got me on the road but it turned out to be a small single car garage detached from a private residence. Compnaies were already making up when I arrived which was a 12 minute drive.

Cambridge Church Destroyed in 4 Alarm Fire

A 4 alarm fire destroyed the Church of Latter Day Saints on Longfellow Park just before 11am this morning. Several hundred worshippers were inside when the fire broke out in the ceiling. By the time everyone got out, the roof was fully invovled. If there was one bright side to this incident, it was witnessing not only Congregation members but neighbors as well work together to save photos, Bibles and other priceless items from the church. Sometimes tragedy brings out the best in people.
